PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

George & Associates Contractors, Inc. was contracted as the prime contractor to construct an 8-acre Class I Ash Monofill (Cell 19) at the Miami Dade County Solid Waste facility. George & Associates Contractors, Inc. is proud to have completed this project under budget and on schedule. Our responsibilities included all aspects of construction including:

  • Mobilization
  • Surveying
  • Clearing and grubbing
  • Cut and filled within cell embankment
  • Excavated of 480,000 tons of materials, cut and stockpiled into Cell 20
  • Finished grading and prepared sub-grade over 8-acre Cell
  • Deployed GCL secondary liner, 60mm HDPE liner, planer Geo composite, bi-planer geo net, tri-planer geo net
  • Installed two penetration boxes
  • Installed primary leachate collection and removal system
  • Installed leak detection and collection system and manhole
  • Constructed anchor trench
  • Exposed Cell 18 geo synthetics and tied into Cell 19
  • Constructed road surface subgrade and base road around Cell 19
  • Sodded around the new Cell 19
  • Deployed 24" thick protective layer of sand
